I am a professional beekeeper who hires foreign workers to do my daily work related to beekeeping. Last year, I hired 9 temporary workers from Nicaragua.
Usually, workers start working in March and return to their country at the end of October. Most of them are young people who have made sacrifices for their families.
At the end of last year's (2020) season, when I was about to send them back, I encountered a difficult situation. The BC provincial government has issued a new policy that does not allow any nucleic acid testing on travelers. Although these workers came to Canada as essential workers, they were unable to obtain the nucleic acid tests required for travel. From the test to landing in Nicaragua, even if their new crown test is negative, it cannot exceed 72 hours.
