7-Day Stress Relief Class  – October 2018 – This was an inaugural retreat, designed for those who work during the week. The retreat incorporated the weekend (9:30am to 5:30pm) and evenings from Monday to Friday (6:45pm to 9:15pm). On more than one occasion, students shared during the week that they were able to clear their desks by the end of the day, were asked by coworkers where they got their energy from, and had an increased knowledge and wisdom about their work. Several asked for this retreat to continue every evening.

As the students gained energy, they learned that sharing their experience was part of the healing process as well.  Sharing gives others hope and can be an inspiration to those with similar challenges. Here are some of their experiences from the week.

Rivka: I understand how important relaxation is.  This retreat was a journey to attain relaxation. I work with death and dying people so it’s a very intense stressful place to work.  I knew I really needed this retreat. I was able to deal with the stress of my work much better. Some fluid is seeping from behind my ear; no idea what it is. To just receive and not need to do anything is wonderful. It’s so great to sit on a cushion and be looked after. I don’t have to do anything. Amazing. Thank you.

Ying:  I’m glad to be here.  I love the small class as it’s much more intimate.  I came here for grounding and I felt this way throughout the class.  I started out like “mud in the water” and was helped in removing the mud from my life through the retreat.  I am more grounded throughout my body now. I wanted this right at the cellular level and I got that. Thank you!

Bern:  I got a lot from this retreat.  I definitely feel I’ve crossed a finish line.  Today I feel much lighter.  During the healing yesterday, I shed lots of tears, like a dam opening things just released.  Perhaps it was motherhood issues, along with the knowledge that I had a chance to let go.  I kept hoping I’d stop crying, but the tears just kept coming, and that allowed me to go very deep.  Today I am tired, but I talked with my daughter and had a better approach as a mother.  I’m going to be there for her but I will set a healthy boundary.  I say yes to health and wellness and I want that for my daughter also. My commitment to Bodhi Meditation practice has increased.

Dana:  I’ve spent a month here (from Romania).  I practice, I volunteer.  Last night I spoke with my daughter and she said, “Mother, you look very, very healthy.”  So I’m very happy and grateful to be here.  I feel Bodhi is my family.

Gail:  I came for a stress issue.  I have taken previous retreats and do The Meditation of Greater Illumination regularly, but found that without the energy from everyone in a class I don’t go deep enough.  But this week has been great and the pain in my back is gone completely.

Diane:  I think my lesson this week was that while I quite easily take care of others, I do not do that for myself.  But reflection during the retreat made me realize I need to look after myself.  I saw those moments in meditation when I just flow to the place I need to be replenished.  Meditation builds a great foundation where I can help others and have the energy.  I see the importance of taking time out for ourselves.  I got a great deal from this retreat.

Emily: I had sprained my foot and thought I would not be able to stand for The Meditation of Greater Illumination.  I was given a piece of tissue blessed by Master JinBodhi and placed it in my shoe.  I sat during the meditation but half way through, the pain was gone and when we did the closing exercises I was able to jump.

Saran:  This was a wonderful retreat.  It was great for my work schedule.  My sleep disorder is improving. I’m sleeping so much better than before.
