Since the Bodhi Meditation Centre opened in Richmond in 2005, they have reached out to the community, fulfilling Grandmaster JinBodhi’s vow to help everyone be happier and healthier.

Meditation classes are free, the center is open every day (including Christmas), and they’ve even taken the classes to community centers and seniors’ homes. They participate at the Wellness Show where they offer energy healing to anyone who is interested.

Meanwhile, volunteers distribute Bodhi’s free Meditation & Health magazine throughout the Lower Mainland, at cafes, grocery stores, doctors’ offices, restaurants, stores, dry cleaners, train stations, and any other imaginable place where people frequent. Many people shared that they came to Bodhi because of finding a magazine.

Events at the center, such as Chinese New Year and Spine Health Day, are open to the public. Last year, they held an Energy Bagua event at King George Park in Richmond, where more than 1000 people gathered to learn the walking meditation. Food, games, and fun were free for everyone. Bodhi supported Cops for Cancer this year. The police officers, on the bike, stopped at the center to a warm welcome and some meditation practice. They said it was the best welcome they’d had on their long route.

Bodhi extends globally as well. When there is a natural disaster, such as the earthquake in Tibet, the center in Richmond not only chanted for the victims but also raised money to help rebuild.

Bodhi practitioners practice compassion that naturally extends to the community. What an honor to be recognized by the City of Richmond for their efforts. For the past few years, elected public officials have supported the center at Bodhi’s major events and spoke of the work Bodhi does. They recognize that Bodhi wants everyone in the community to be healthier and happier. That just makes for good neighbours!

So on Sunday, August 7th, 2016, from 3 pm to 7 pm, Bodhi celebrates this honor of having their own Bodhi Meditation Day in Richmond. Again, at King George Park, food, games, meditation demos, and a ceremony commemorating the honor.

The City of Richmond proclaims August 3, 2016 as "Bodhi Meditation Day".
