We continue to share the stories of those who attended the 8.5-Day Health & Happiness Retreat in September 2016. The practice of meditation, including The Meditation of Greater Illumination, builds a strong foundation from which students can continue to develop with daily meditation practice. This makes a physical and emotional difference and helps with relationships and careers.

Here are the stories of Carrie and Rita:

Carrie 2016

Carrie came to 8.5-Day Health & Happiness Retreat without expectation after her sister in Singapore recommended Bodhi Meditation. She was therefore surprised to find on Day 3 that eczema behind her ears was gone. On the last day of the retreat, she noticed the small pimples that covered her forehead were gone. The doctor had told her there was nothing he could do to help her with them. All it took, she discovered, was a “Bodhi facial”.

Rita sat many times at Tim Hortons looking across the street at the Bodhi Meditation Centre and wondered what it was all about. It took her a long time to come through the doors. Finally, when she did, she saw all the smiling faces and thought, “This is weird.” She sat at the back and hid. As the days went on she thought she wouldn’t come back. But she did. During the chanting for parents, she thought it would be easy, but the flood gates opened and she couldn’t stop crying. “Where were the tears coming from?” It felt so good she said. She envisioned her mom and gave her a hug and told her she loved her.

The next day she was with her mother in the emergency room.  While in the depressing waiting room, Rita remembered that she could ask Grandmaster JinBodhi for help. So she did. She asked for her mom to get better and remain calm. Suddenly everything brightened. Everyone around them was happier, even a man on a stretcher. The energy, she said, was so good during the hours they had to wait. Rita told the retreat group that the battery in her car had died during the week and needed to be recharged. The metaphor wasn’t lost on her. That’s what the 8.5-Day Health & Happiness Retreat did for her – recharged her battery.
