What happens at an 8.5-Day Health & Happiness Retreat? Meditation. Energy. Transformation. Many people come to the retreat with the hope of healing. And for many, that’s what happens. The healing isn’t always physical, sometimes it’s emotional or spiritual. There is hope. There is always hope. Here are more stories from the students of the retreat.

Sam and Patricia have attended many retreats over the years. At this retreat, Patricia had excruciating knee pain, so much so that she didn’t think she could make it to the class the next day. She was upset knowing she’d miss the healing. Yet she believed strongly enough and had hope. The pain worsened during the night and then she felt energy run from the top of her head through her body like fire. The next morning, she got out of bed and walked without pain. Bodhi, she said, offers such hope.

Charlie had tried Tai Chi, yoga and different techniques to improve his health. The exercises he did daily weren’t effective in making a vast improvement, so he came to the retreat for the first time. His body was unbalanced with one leg and shoulder higher than the other. This had been a problem for him. During the retreat his leg felt cold and he took this as a good sign. After seven days his body was more aligned and balanced. He could walk better. After eight days of meditation practice, his whole body felt different. He could feel the warmth in his spine during The Meditation of Greater Illumination. “Quite amazing and very powerful,” he said. “I’m so grateful.”

Valli read the Meditation & Health magazine when she sat in her doctor’s waiting room. She was there to request a one-month leave of absence from work. She had just separated from a seventeen-year relationship and was suffering from insomnia. She also found it difficult to remember anything good about her alcoholic father.

During the retreat she began to sleep and if she woke up she could go back to sleep easily. She was able to forgive her father and feel love for him. And by day 5 of the retreat she was able to forgive her ex-husband. “I found my path at Bodhi and am grateful to be here. I see a better future.”
