September 2017 – 8.5-Day Health & Happiness Retreat 2017

When the meditation retreat started we heard words and phrases such as family issues, joint pain, stomach pain, back pain, shoulder pain, elbow pain, muscle spasms, muscle pain, gastro problems, insomnia, sadness, loneliness, anger, hyper critical, depression, stress, anxiety, Parkinsons, arthritis, asthma, OCD, blaming, grief, fibromyalgia, herniated disc.

Someone said, “When listening to others’ problems, mine are nothing.” But they are all something. They are our afflictions and we long to be free of them.

Happily, we can say that as the days went by, transformation happened. There were many healed relationships. Rod called his brother and his sister just happened to be there. For many, family members were a trigger for negative emotions. The meditation practice made a huge difference. Once student said, “This is a place where people are learning to be better.”

We were here to meditate and the value is immeasurable. Through meditation we better understand our thoughts and opinions. We can reach a state of deep and whole understanding. Meditation is a useful tool, a necessary tool to learn about ourselves. Meditation is a tool to solve our issues, a tool to connect with a higher power that is out of the human realm.

Towards the end of the retreat we heard words such as peaceful, happy, hopeful. Nicole said, “There are one hundred ways to say ‘good’ and I’m now all of them.”

Brenda couldn’t hear out of her right ear for 33 years. All of a sudden she could hear. Marion had never wanted to help or give back, but that all changed. One woman found meditation was the tool she could use when having anxiety or panic attacks.

One woman said she had been searching for something outside of herself for twenty-five years, but by practicing The Meditation of Greater Illumination she discovered it within. The knowledge came gently, not like a clap of thunder. She no longer needs to search, just practice meditation.

Another woman came on the second day after hearing about Bodhi the day before. She knew immediately that Bodhi was what she needed and what she was looking for. The meditation practice helped her in so many ways, even clearing physical problems she didn’t know she had.

One man shared that he had a collection of self-help books, but all he had needed was Bodhi Meditation. Others felt physical releases that had been there for so long. Some released anger and fear.

On Day 9 we got together as a group for the last time. There was laughter, tears, inspiration, happiness and sharing. Sharing inspires others; the words may heal someone else. As the saying goes: When two people share happiness it doubles; when two people share sorrow it is halved.

This is the beginning of a new life. With meditation as a first priority of the day, everything will unfold as it should. Buddha once said, “If I can be a Buddha, then all sentient beings can be buddhas.”
